RICK PEWE

The Rock Motorsports Hall of Fame is honored to announce the induction of Rick Péwé into the Living Legends Class of 2025 —

A recognition befitting one of the most influential voices in the off-road world. For decades, Rick has been more than a journalist; he has been a champion of rock sports, an ambassador for adventure, and a storyteller whose passion helped fuel the growth of an entire industry.

Rick’s journey through the off-road landscape began not just behind a desk, but behind the wheel. Known for his hands-on approach, Péwé lived the life he chronicled — building rigs, running trails, and sharing every challenge and triumph with authenticity that resonated deeply with readers and enthusiasts alike. His tenure at Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine, where he rose from contributor to editor-in-chief, became a golden era of coverage that brought rockcrawling and hardcore trail running to mainstream attention. His eye for technical detail, combined with a knack for storytelling, elevated the sport from niche gatherings to a recognized pillar of motorsports culture.

Beyond the page, Rick Péwé’s influence echoed across countless trail rides, industry events, and competitions. He was a fixture at Jeep gatherings, a mentor to up-and-coming builders, and a tireless advocate for keeping public lands open for recreation. Péwé’s ability to connect with people — whether at a major event or while wrenching in the garage — earned him not just respect, but admiration as a true leader within the community.

His accomplishments are as broad as they are enduring:

  • Editorial Legacy: Steering 4-Wheel & Off-Road into becoming the definitive voice of hardcore wheeling.

  • Advocacy: Championing land use issues and raising awareness about the importance of preserving access for future generations.

  • Trailblazer: Running iconic trails like the Rubicon and Moab’s most difficult routes, not as an observer, but as a participant.

  • Mentorship: Encouraging innovation and creativity in vehicle builds, and inspiring thousands to take on the rocks themselves.

Today, as Rick Péwé takes his place among the Living Legends of Rock, we celebrate not only what he has accomplished, but the spirit he represents. He embodies the grit, humor, and unrelenting curiosity that define off-road culture. The Hall of Fame is proud to honor him for a lifetime of contributions that will continue to influence and inspire for decades to come.

Congratulations to Rick Péwé — Living Legend, storyteller, and friend to all who call the rocks home.
